| A number of years ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). I now live with lingering effects of post-concussion syndrome, which has limited my ability to do many things, like return to work. I do mindfulness meditation and cognitive training daily to manage my symptoms. About 4 yrs ago I watched a video of a chainsaw carving and wanted to try it myself. I knew immediately that chainsaw carving would be my new hobby. It allows me to work outside, be creative, and most of all, gives me a purpose again. I try to carve a couple hours a day but my symptoms often stop me. Concentration is difficult and tiring, I know when it’s time to take a break or quit for the day. I take one day at a time, and live in the moment. Chainsaw carving gave me my life back, and for that, I’m grateful. |
